Obesity: How to lose weight wisely

Eating a balanced, nutritious diet and being physically active is the best way to stay healthy and help reduce your risk of disease. To maintain a stable weight, your energy (kilojoule) intake needs to equal the energy you use. If you use more energy than you consume, you will lose weight. On the other hand, if you eat more than you use, you will gain weight.

The general advice is :

  1. Cut down on high-calorie foods (Fattening foods ) like :  fats (e.g. oils, butter, margarine, peanut butter and some nuts) , alcohol , refined carbohydrates (e.g. sugar, cakes, soft drinks, sweets, biscuits, white bread). and eat more of complex carbohydrates—grains and vegetables
  2. Physical activity ( a brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes each day is the most practical exercise ) ; Walk the dog , Play a sport that you enjoy , Take stairs instead of lifts.

There are Different ways to lose weight depending on your individual circumstances, Some plans may not work for you and may adversely affect your health.
